To be allowed to perform such parachute jumps, you must meet the following conditions: ► a completed theoretical parachuting course confirmed with an exam before an exam commission; ►being not less than 16 years old and having at least elementary education; ► an authorized permission of legal guardians for the practical course in the air, if at the moment the course starts we are under 18; ► valid third-party liability insurance – in most cases available on-site or prepared after prior submission of required details and available to be collected on-site (a parachute, pursuant to aviation law, is an aircraft, so it is necessary to have insurance for damage caused by various emergency situations). That was how far the regulations go. HOW NOT TO HURT YOURSELF WHILE JUMPING – THE COURSE With favorable weather, it is possible to complete the whole course in one weekend (Friday-Sunday). The first day is for theoretical lectures, another day is for practical classes, the exam (a multiple-choice test), the first jump with discussion concerning any errors and correcting them with a recorded footage thanks to a camera that is usually mounted on the wing of the airplane. On the next day, there are two more jumps. THE BEGINNING, MEANING THE THEORY The theoretical course consists of several parts during which we learn about the basic issues and terms connected with aviation law; we learn about the construction of a parachute, parachute types, and methods of using them, impact of the weather on performance and safety of jumps, basic procedures regarding jumps (meaning everything that happens from the issue of the permission for the jump) and general safety rules at the airport, training jumps on mock- ups, still on the ground and in the air. One of the most important elements of the theoretical training is the ability to correctly recognize and address any undesired situations connected with the parachute after being separated from the airplane.
