Glock 19X,
is advertised as the first „crosso-
ver" from the Austrian company.
It is a combination of the Gen 5
full size Glock 17 and the com-
pact Glock 19. What catches the
eye at the first moment you look
at it is the color – both the frame
and the slide are FDE. It is first
full-color Glock straight from
the factory as to this moment
only the frames came in color
whilst the slides were always
black (except the red and blue
training ones. But that is just the
first glance aesthetics. The main
feature is the size combination
– the frame comes from a full
size Glock17, whilst the slide is
the compact one straight from a
Glock 19.
You might ask why the 19X
ever came to existence? Well
it's the straight line descendant
of the US Armed Forces Modu-
lar Handgun System intended
to replace legacy Beretta M9.
The winning bid in MHS went
to SIG Sauer P320 (introduced
into service in the full size M17
and compact M18 variant). The
curious part is that Glock offered
pistol in only one size. One size
fits all (most?). Both the Glock
19 MHS and Glock 23 MHS
