The author divides his own works into two following categories: survival and tactical knives. The first are described by him as the utility knives intended for the field use, and the latter, simply, as referring to the military themed. They differ among themselves with a type of the used steel and this is probably of the greatest importance, because, LKW knives are mostly "military design". And the tactical knives are fully practical tools, like the Hundur XL here. BLADE The 140 mm long blade has been made of the well-known and broadly used 60HRC D2 steel. At first glance it can be noticed that it has been developed for heavy-duty use. The applied edge is relatively low, ends exactly in a half of the 4 mm thick blade with a small, shallow false edge. It fulfills mainly an aesthetic function, adding some aggressiveness to the knife's design, and at the same time it does not weaken its point. The blade is clearly a drop point with an expressive convex, what softens a little bit an appearance of the knife, but enables to use it more effectively (one has managed to obtain a long section of the straight cutting edge). The blade begins with a small indentation, that helps during sharpening. The blade makes an impression of the simple, but not the, boring one. A combination of a practical profile with a typically tactical element, which constitutes the false edge, putting the indentations under the thumb at the spine and the stonewash finish have allowed for achieving www.fragoutmag.com
