Together with weight of the main and the auxiliary canopy (pretty surprising that it is so heavy), it might occur that the jump will be unsafe for the „passenger". It is, then, good to know your own weight because at the airport it might occur that we will not be allowed to jump, because the aeroclub does not have a proper parachute with the required „loading capacity". I have mentioned that fact because when I was collecting the materials for this article I came across a case that took place in May 2016 when a pretty experienced jumper (480 jumps) was seriously injured due to technical errors while landing (no parachute adjustments before landing, slipping on wet grass, improper body position for hard landing). The felicitation of that situation was said to have been the exceeded maximum weight of the main canopy specified by the manufacturer - the jumper weighed 105-110 kg, which together with the parachute and the equipment exceeded the maximum weight (115 kg). So, if we have already decided to parachute, regardless whether to tick another achievement in our life or to continue the fun until we acquire the qualifications of a parachute jumper, it is time to shed some light on this activity. First, we should decide what version of this extreme sport we want to perform. Nowadays, we have two versions of parachuting available for an ordinary bread eater, each offering a totally different experience: a course for SL (Static Line) and AFF (Accelerated Free Fall). The static line course is about the student jumper jumping three times with the automatic opening of the parachute at the height of 1000-1200 meters. The jumper jumps alone, without the assistance of the instructor, the so-called dispatcher who is responsible for the place, time, and height of the jump. The opening of the parachute is initiated by a deployment line attached on one side to a beam in the airplane and on the other side to the pilot chute of the main canopy that is in the cover on the jumper's back.
