OK, I JUMPED, NOW WHAT? After you separated from the plane, you look up and keep counting 121, 122, 123 – after that, you should (theoretically) see a fully unfolded wing. A minor twist – do not panic, after few jumps you will realize that it is normal. If everything is fine with the canopy, the slider is where it should be, and you generally think there is no threat, reach for the control cords and pull them strongly downwards. It is called deceleration of the main canopy – from now on, you can fully control it. If you do not perform maneuvers, make turns, or check individual functions of the parachute (you have time to play with and check all the things you have always wanted), and your arms are raised all the time, the parachute makes you fall down steadily and slowly. Sometimes, another jumper will appear nearby. In case you are too close to each other, remember that avoiding maneuvers should be performed by rotating to the right, while the landing round should be build up to the left. When you are losing altitude, keep looking at the altimeter and when you reach 300 meters, start building up the round for landing. Try to land in the designated area, otherwise you will have to walk back. Remember to always listen to the instructor's communications (after some time, he or she will give you more freedom) and at the height of 100 meters perform the last turning maneuver – below that height, it is dangerous to do so. We approach the landing according to the arrow placed on the ground, which always points in the direction opposite to the direction of wind, which facilitates smoother landing. If you decide that the speed of your fall is too high, panic, and decelerate too quickly, remember to hold the control cords drawn to the highest extent, the landing will not be that smooth as in the case of correct timing, but it will still be safer than in the case when you would suddenly let go. Then, the canopy will gain high speed just before the landing and it will be very painful, or even end up with a serious injury. Wait for the instructor's communication about decelerating, even if you considered it delayed, just trust the instructor and remember once and for all that the perfect height for the final stage of landing is about 3 meters. Then, you can do it two more times or buy more jumps and make progress in the direction that will help you jump out of higher altitudes, without the support of the instructor. AVIATION
