the reason behind a TBI sustained by a soldier. The current research pointing to potential mechanisms causing damage of synapses as a result of pressure differences, toxins released because of stress and the impact of a shock wave itself (i.e. the shock wave's passing through body tissues) (6). The problem with traumatic brain injuries is about their unpredictability: there's no certainty about the extent to which the PTSD is going to recede (if at all), it's even hard to predict its duration. Research tends to speak more and more often of chronic neurodegenerative disorders initiated even potentially by minor concussions. With age, they may be mistakenly diagnosed as e.g. Alzheimer's disease. Research also points to a relationship between the increasing frequency of occurrence of Parkinson's disease and a sustained TBI. TBIs are the most common reason of admissions to neurological intensive care units. Epidemiological studies show that injuries from this group are marked with the highest rate of mortality, occurrence of disabilities, and morbidity resulting from accidents. Besides, they generate significant economic costs (7) (8). Based on statistics: the frequency of occurrence of mTBIs in Europe is 235 per 100,000 inpatients; in the US, it is 150 per 100,000 persons. It is estimated that there may be even 3–4 times more of non-inpatient cases (9)! F PTVS and rehabilitation of the visual system Rehabilitation and the process of recuperation should be supervised by different health care specialists. As for visual system rehabilitation, we're talking about improving the visual parameters that are impaired. And when it comes to the visual system, we're referring to the whole system that makes it possible to spot the object we look at, the element that surround it, to estimate the distance between us and the object, and its location in relation to us, while maintaining our balance – so not only our eyes are involved in the process! It's the same with visual system rehabilitation, i.e. we train the system through phenomena "seen with our eyes", but in fact we stimulate the nervous system, especially the brain. Taking into account the fact that over 80% of information from the outside world reaches us through our eyes, it's good to make sure that the mechanism of reception of this information works correctly. A common synonym for good eyesight is vision acuity. What to do when our vision causes us some inconvenience even though we haven't been diagnosed with any sight defect? Our vision seems to be rather sharp and clear, but we feel that our eyes get strained, the seen image gets sharp or blurred at random, we have trouble focusing on the object we look at, when we shift our gaze from a small distance, e.g. from a phone, to a more distant object, the object becomes sharp rather slowly or we see it double. These are only five symptoms belonging to functional disorders of binocular vision, associated with the process of seeing, not to vision acuity. In
