Grenade launcher has self-cocking trigger mechanism and striking firing pin mechanism. Pulling two stage trig- ger causes to tensing striking spring and then releasing the firing pin. During the shot, part of powder gases is taken back by side port in the barrel and opens cylinder hatch what allow cylinder to turn with the spring force by 60 degrees. There is settable safety lever to prevent ac- cidental discharge, it has two wing on both sides placed above pistol grip. All steel element were coated with NP3 coat based on Teflon and nickel that prevents weapon from weather con- ditions and increase resistance for corrosion. On the light aluminum alloy rail are KeyMod attachment slots (four slots on every 2,6 and 11 o'clock and five at 3,9 and 12 o'clock that allow for mounting accessories direc- tly or attach Picatinny rails for laser range finders, laser pointers or weapon lights. AV140 is compatible with two types of 40mm shells. First one is 40 mm x 46SR Low Velocity ammunition with ma- ximum range of 375 meters, second is Medium Velocity 40 mm x 51SR capable of effective fire up to 800 meters. Except typical High Explosive or Airburst grenade laun- chers can fire non-lethal ammunition such as illumination, marking or with tear gas – only requirement is that overall length cannot exceed 142 mm. providing accurate fire is much easier with Vortex Venom red dot in special cover with laser printed marking that helps in aiming and finding range attached to the top Picatinny rail.
