KMV APVT
K
rauss-Maffei Wegmann unveiled concept demonstrator of Amphibious Protected Vehicle Tracked
(APVT). The hull was designed for best hydrodynamic performance. What is intriguing, the APVT has
been designed to drive in one way and navigate the other one, each side having been designed to best
operate in its environment – land or water. The rear of APVT becomes bow during waterborne operations
and then it is propelled by a waterjet, which provides a maximum speed of up to 13.2 km/h with a range
of up to 54 km. The weight of the empty vehicle is around 25 t and GWVR is 31 t. The APVT demonstrator
was armed with KMW RCWS 200+. According to available information, the APVT was designed for Asian
markets.
EMBT
F

and KMW joint venture. EMBT is a combination of Leopard 2A7V chassis and
Leclerc's "lightweight" turret. The GWVR of EMBT is estimated for 62t, which is 5-6t
less than Leopard 2A7. The EMBT is solely funded by KNDS and in 2018 it co has
undertaken mobility and firing trials, the latter performed in Portugal, with 22 rounds
fired from the 120mm smoothbore gun.
