ammo 155 mm HE-ExR long range
artillery round concept developed in
Extreme Range Concept program. The HE-
-ExR is ramjet technology. for artillery range
extension. Nammo declares that HE-ExR
shell fired from standard 155 mm howitzer
with L/52 barrel could reach up to 100 km
range. The new technology – a type of air
breathing system where the shell has an
internal rocket engine that takes in oxy-
gen through the nose of the projectile and
in turn uses it to burn the propellant, solid
hydrocarbon fuel, thus generating thrust.
HE-ExR will bring the range in the three-digit
dimension, the Mach 3 velocity being ma-
intained for around 50 seconds, a ramjet
being inherently self-regulating maintaining
a constant Mach number independently of
altitude, allowing the round to hit a target at
over 100 km. The serial production should
be started in 2023-2024.
NEXTER CAESAR

55 mm Nexter Caesar self-propelled howitzer in configura-
tion which was chosen in 2017 by Danish armed forces. The
howitzer was installed on Tatra T815-6 8x8 armored truck and
was equipped with automatic loading system. The deliveries for
Denmark will begin in 2020.
