ves of both lines are made primarily of Sleipner or VC800 steel - both are highly advanced tool steels. For particularly de- manding clients, the forge offers ASP or CPM powder steels. The „Metro 2033" are simple and austere knives with a paracord wrap- ped handles, mostly from 1.8159 spring steel. The „tactical" knives in the basic ver- sion come with Kydex sheaths with poly- mer buckle or MOLLE clip. Leather she- aths are option and usually a standard in hunting knives. Of course, this is not a full range of tools by Forged Blades - Forest Forge, the team is open to work with the cu- stomer. Existing models can be modified, and even custom knives are possible. Blacksmiths always provide advice in the selection of the right materials, and as people who also have experience in using knives also regarding the shapes and ways of finishing. With passion for militaria, hand-to- -hand combat and many years of friend- ship, the „Gringo" knife project was created in cooperation with „Way of The Knife" by Dawid Fajer – (athlete and instructor in the field of hand-to-hand combat systems, shooting, self-defense and fitness). Gringo is combination of compact size, durability and a wide ran- ge of applications - from concealed carry to camping where a heavy duty blade is required. Due to many applications, the „Gringo" knife is subjected to continuous upgrades in order to achieve the highest possible performance and ergonomics. As part of the „Gringo" project, at least two versions of the knife are planned. These knives are available only through Way Of The Knife in limited quantities. Knives from Forged Blades - Forest Forge are created in a thoughtful way and always as fully usable tools. Despite its aesthetic appearance and the use of premium materials for binding, hunting knives are still solid blades that are not afraid of extreme challenges when they are used for skinning even covered with a thick layer of mud deer or wild boar without the need for constant sharpening. Military knives are the highest quality steel combined in an uncompromising way with G10 and Kydex, which gives a raw look and confidence of a tool that will not let you down during backpacking or military activities. Damascene laminates are forged from tool steels. Many manufacturers use lower quality steel to have better con- trasts between steel layers. In Forged Blades contrast is a secondary issue and the most important is the hardness and strength of the blade. A part of forging is done by hand and a part using a hydraulic press and power hammer which speeds up and streamlines the whole process. The result is a one-of-a-kind material. A unique pattern visible after etching in acid or iron chloride, high hardness and strength. Between layers of different grades of steel used for making lamina- te, carbides with enormous hardness are formed in the process of forging. Highly advanced steels (even powder steels) are sometimes also subjected to re-shaping, mostly because of the form in which they are available on the market (rollers, thick bits or blocks) or to improve the quality of the material. In this case, it is machine forging because of the difficulty of machining such mate- rials - in some cases, free hand forging is www.fragoutmag.com
