R e m i n g t o n / B u s h m a s t e r Adaptive Combat Rifle was born from Magpul Masa- da ACWS unveiled at SHOT Show 2007. Initially, plan was to launch the production in 2008, but due the delays, new rifle was ready in 2009. In meantime, the rifle was re-designed to meet US Army requirements for M4 replacement. Magpul decided to sell the project to Bushmaster (for civilian mar- kets) and Remington (mil/gov cu- stomers). Finally, both companies were owned by Freedom Group which in 2015 became Remington Outdoor Company. The ACR design is older than MSBS and without any doubt, it influenced the Polish rifle. In 2009 the team responsible for re-design and ergonomics joined the WAT/ FB Radom engineers. Before that, the MSBS early stage technology demonstrator was… ugly as phuck. One of the designers was clo- sely monitoring the global trends and firearms designs. The concept of Masada definitely caught his interest and some design solu- tions were implemented in MSBS. Again, the MSBS is not 1:1 copy of ACR/Masada, there are many (some are significant) differences in internals. From the outside, well, they are kind of similar. Both ACR and MSBS as gas ope- rated, short-stroke piston rifles. Well, nothing new here. The old AR-18 was first. Gas systems concepts are simi- lar in general, but ACR has far better gas regulator design with more effective positive safety. It is impossible for gas regulator to fall out during shooting. Maybe in some critical malfunction of rifle. ACR regulator gazowy obsada lufy odbijacz łusek i okno wyrzutowe rozłożony zespół ruchomy tylec komory zamkowej www.fragoutmag.com
