Latest addition to the Direct Action line- -up are Vanguard Combat Trousers, initially displayed during the IWA and Enforce Tac shows. Finally, they are available now. Let's take a first look! VANGUARD DA My first surprise was… the name of Vanguards. Direct Action is Polish company and their branding is heri- tage to combat planes operated by Polish airmen during the World War Two. After some google research, it came up that Vultee P-66 Vanguard fighter was designed for Sweden, but it never reached the customer. The P-66's were finally sent to Far East, where Chinese pilots and Ame- rican Volunteer Group fought aga- inst Japanese invasion. As far as we know it, there were no Poles fighting there. But the word "vanguard" me- ans "the forefront in any movement, field, activity, or the like." And the combat pants are "the forefront" of DA branded clothing. Direct Action Vanguard Combat Trousers are made from three dif- ferent fabrics. The main fabric is a proprietary rip-stop fabric (39% cotton/60% nylon/1% elastane) in solid colors or 50% nylon 50% cot- ton rip-stop in Crye Multicam and PenCott Wildwood camouflage pat- terns), 4-way durable stretch for elastic panels and rugged Cordura 500D for reinforcements. DESIGN The cut is regular one, they are not too baggy, but they ain't no slim fits too. Cut seems to be similar to ACU uniform (Crye Combat Pants are far more athletic cut). Vanguards are designed to provided maximum mo- bility and flexibility, which are drama- tically increased by stretch panels in knees, gusseted groin and back area. Pants are thin-lined in the waist area with soft-brushed fabric. The- re are six 45 mm wide belt loops compatible with most of duty belts and rigger belts. Loops are placed to not interfere with OWB holsters. The waist size is not adjustable, so please be careful when choosing the size. Pants have Velcro front closure with large tab and YKK zipper fly. Vanguard Combat Trousers have eight pockets in total: • Two waist slash pockets lined with mesh fabric and with profiled and Cordura reinforced edges to prevent against abrasion of knives clips or flashlight clips.
