recoil spring assembly, there was a compartment with interchange- able weights secured with a roll pin. The GROT rifle bolt carrier is a bulky block of metal with charging handle attachment, recoil spring assembly and bolt. In the upper part of the carrier there is welded service opening for the cam pin (common misconception is that bolt carrier is welded). There are two asymmetric compartments for interchangeable weights: three and four in each. Compartments are secured with roll pins. The re- coil spring assembly is located near to the bolt making the bolt carrier significantly lower and the opening in the front of the carrier (for recoil spring rod) is semi-circu- lar for increased surface of guiding rod. The bolt carrier of 2008 MSBS model is slicker than the final one and might be rotated to change the casing ejection side. GROT requires to remove the bolt carrier group and to rotate the bolt 180 de- grees. In the 2008 model, the bolt carrier group had to be disassem- bled, bolt rotated 180 degrees and re-assembled again but with the cam pin moved to the other side (cam pin must be on the opposite side of the ejection port). The BCG might be assembled back without the cam pin moved but the breach will not lock. In GROT problem was solved with leaving just a single cam and fixed position of cam pin. Bolts are basically the same, except for the angle of extractor (slanted in 2008 model and hori- zontal in GROT) and cam pin (ho- DEMONSTRATOR Gas block Case deflector and ejection port Case deflector and ejection port Parts of bolt carrier group Parts of bolt carrier group FIREARMS
