is an additional row of MOLLE slots to attach small items with rubber bands, like TQs or chemlights.. The Spitfire Mk II is noticeably li- ghter than the legacy plate carrier and has incredible modularity. It won't be a replacement for the Spitfire but an al- ternative for two different approaches to the gear configuration. Legacy Spit- fire comes semi-configured as the front and rear panels layout is basically fixed. Mk II works as a completely modular base for customization depending on the mission or function. Here you have the front panels with pre-attached pouches and pockets, which are definitely far more easier to attach than weaving the MOLLE straps. Just take the panel, attach it and you are ready to go. OK, the price tag is higher but the gear was not meant for the "re- tail" market but for professional use. It's not Sunday commando-wannabe gear but a real deal for pros. Shit, I am the commando-wannabe too but still, there are many gearwhores around with real- ly deep pockets. Remember, the retails sales are not the ultimate goal for the Direct Action Gear as they are focused on the "professional market". Direct Action Spitfire Mk II is defini- tely far more modular than the previous carrier, so the configuration possibilities are doubled. I guess soon we might expect some more additional parts for the Spitfire System. Here in the Frag Out! Magazine we have two Spitfire Mk IIs with slightly different setups. Stay tuned for the up- coming complete review after a couple months of use on the range. What we can say now, it looks very promising. With the introduction of Spitfire Mk II, the options for cummerbunds were also increased. Ä Spitfire Mk II Modular Cummer- bund: same as the legacy one with slightly increased number of MOLLE slots. Internal pockets for side armor. Ä Elastic Cummerbund Slim: 5" wide elastic cummerbund w/o po- uches. Comes as a standard kit. Ä Modular Cummerbund Slim: streamlined and simpler version of the Modular Cummerbund without the side armor pockets. Ä Elastic Cummerbund: 5" wide ela- stic cummerbund with three open-top magazine pouches on each side. The pockets have similar design to the Slick Magazine Flap. Ä Rapid Access Cummerbund: quick-release cummerbund with 2M ROC "Tubes-like" buckles for easier don- ning and doffing without use of front flap. An optional Chest Rig Interface al- lows the user to attach the Direct Ac- tion chest rigs (or compatible ones, like Mayflower R&C/Velocity Systems) directly to the plate carrier. Basically, these are two buckles which attach to the buckles of chest rig when the har- ness is released. Additionally, there is Underpouch, a dangler/waistpack-style pocket atta- ched under the front flap. Underpouch has a main compartment with internal elastic webbing for small stuff and a flat front pocket which is Velcro lined. Out- side, there is a Velcro loop for patches and MOLLE slots.
