The Tropen is a lightweight summer/
jungle sleeping bag with mosquito net.
The M size is 220 cm long, 85 cm wide
in the torso area and 60 cm wide in
feet area. The weight is around 1.1
kilogram, quite an achievement for the
synthetic bag. A nice feature of the
bags is their compatibility with each
other. The Tropen might be used as an
additional insulation for the Defence 4
in the winter. Such a combo will weigh
3 kilograms and will be approx. 45 x
25 cm when packed.
The Defence 4 is a mummy-style
bag with a center placed zipper with
insulation flap underneath called a
warming strip. It also features the
cinch around the face to prevent the
escape of heat. Sleeping bag is roomy,
also in the bottom part where the
bag has a trapezoid shape. Sleeping
with boots on is possible. The layered
structure and the cut are the result
of the base function: keeping the
user warm in the cold climate. A
compression bag which comes with
a bag is terrific and makes the bag
compressed really small.
Tropen, as already mentioned, is a
warm weather bag so the breathability
and comfort were the main focus.
The side zipper is two way, so it can
be opened in the bottom for better
airflow. The integrated mosquito net
prevents bugs. Obvious question
regarding the sleeping bags is the one
about the temperature ranges. Even
if there are international standards
