The "living comfort" inside cannot be compared to the full-size tent where you can seat comfortably. Another is the single-walled construction which eventually causes some moisture on the inside of the shelter (when vents are fully closed), especially in cold weather. Last but not least, the fabrics, design and craftsmanship are reflected in the MSRP which is 649 EUR. For whom the Carinthia Observer Plus was designed? Definitely for soldiers which require shelter which will work in extreme conditions and the standard bivy bag is not enough. It might also work for the wildlife photographers mobile hide. It works perfectly in this role and the price is way below the basic zoom lens for full-frame DSLR. Would it work for the hiker? Taking price out of the quotation, yes it would. But you have to be aware of its limitations as it is not a tent and it won't be as comfortable as one. It is also heavier than outdoor single-walled tents. What you pay is what you get, a reliable and ultra- durable shelter for all the weather conditions. Also, quite compact. You won't find an alternative solution to this kind of shelter in the outdoor stores as it was never meant for civilian outdoor use. I guess that some of the experienced hikers will find a place for shelter such as the Carinthia Observer Plus as it provides safe and comfortable stay overnight. Also, rugged main fabric and built-like-a-tank approach makes the shelter almost impossible to destroy during the use. You cannot tell the same thing about the lightweight hiking gear, can't you?
