May 2019, stating that Poland would be willing to potentially
procure 32 F-35, along with the required training and logistics
package. DSCA (Defense Security Cooperation Agency) took
the next step. The entity published a release on September 11th,
2019, stating that the US Department of State issued a consent
concerning the sale of the fighters to Poland. Consent issuance
by the US Congress has been the last step of the process, being
a purely formal element of the whole procedure. This happened
on September 27th, 2019.
The last chapter of the procurement process so far has taken
place on January 31st, 2020. Back then, with involvement on
the part of the President of Poland and the PM, and the US
Ambassador to Poland, the Minister of Defence signed the LOA
(Letter of Offer and Acceptance) formalizing the F-35 acquisition.
The event took place at the Polish Air Force Academy and it
was the final piece of the puzzle in many months of negotiation
undertaken by Warsaw and the DC.
According to the previously released information, Poland has
procured 32 F-35A aircraft in the latest Block 4 variant. The
