S HASH Carinthia is the word. Think premium. Top fabrics, ex- cellent design and craftsmanship. And still made in Europe not Bangladesh or Vietnam. Top notch. The jacket is solidly, toasty and comfortable. It will work very well during static activities in low tempera- tures or as a „parking jacket that we warm up during a stop by putting it on a hard shell or softshell (if we are wearing tactical gear, remember about choosing the right size). When packed in a compression bag, it takes up little space, so it will definitely fit in a bac- kpack. According to the Carinthia, the recommended use temperature is -15 ° C, but with the right combi- nation of layers under the jacket, individual features and a good breakfast, it can definitely be used in much lower temperatures - MIG 3.0 has worked per- fectly even at -30 ° C, I don't think, that 4.0 could not deal with it. The problem might be with the user… The main change between MIG 3.0 and 4.0 is a new GORE-TEX Windstopper laminate with a NIR finish. If you needed it in the previous edition and you need protection against detection by night vision goggles, then MIG 4.0 is the product for you - currently on the market there is not much choice when it comes to in- sulation clothing that does "not shine" in night vision. The only parts that seem to give a slight glow in night vision are Velcro panels on the shoulders (but they can be covered with patches) and microfleece on the inside of the collar. The zippers are cleverly hidden under the excessive fabric, so they also disappear in night vision. The downside is that the outer fabric is a bit stiffer, at least compared to the previous model, 4.0 www.fragoutmag.com
