RAC: RAIL ATTACHED COMMUNICATION HEADSET
The Ops-Core team unveiled their brand new RAC head-
set during the SHOT Show 2015. The headset was only
available in the rail-attached variant. The major differen-
ce between the Ops-Core and Comtac was an attachment
method– the RAC mounting arms were attached to the
rear slash part of accessory rail which was mostly used
for O2 masks or goggles attachment, but usually was left
unoccupied as only few accessories could be mounted
there. This would leave the top rail estate still available
for flashlights and other accessories.
The ear cups were gimbal-mounted to the articulated
adjustable arms with loaded springs that were providing
proper seal over the ears and were stabilizing the helmets
from the sides. The arms had two additional positions –
the so-called "ready" position when the cups were over
the ears but with some space for air flow (you will hear
one click) or in the fully vented position (two clicks).
