e have reviewed the 3rd Generation of
Carinthia MIG more than three years ago
in FRAG OUT! Magazine #15. New version
is neither evolution nor the revolution. The main
difference is the NIR/IRR compliant outer fabric and
some minor tweaks improving the overall comfort
of use.
The new outershell fabric is the GORE-TEX
Windstopper flexible laminate with nylon rip-stop
outerface and air permeable GORE-TEX ePTFE
membrane. The fabric is water resistant and
windproof, highly breathable and has near-infrared
(NIR) aperture to minimize the visible signature in
night vision devices. The coating will not reflect the
infra-red lighting and will not "glow" in NVGs. For
the gearwhore it is just a fancy detail, but if you are a
real life pro on the two-way shooting range, it might
save your life. The coating will enable operators to
stay undetected for a longer time. IMHO the new
outerfabric feels a bit stiffer than in MIG 3.0.
The MIG 4.0 "filling" is Carinthia proprietary toasty
G-LOFT polyester-fibers synthetic insulation. The
designers decided to place the insulation according
to the ISO Mapping Technology. This is achieved
