L otos IMHO, the Carinthia is really a no bullshit business. I am more than sure of that as for many years we have been using and testing their products and they are always excellent for the technical point of view. Sure, their design is a matter of personal preferences, the expected use scenarios, etc. Sometime ago I had a MIG 3.0 and I really, really tried to wear and tear it. No luck. And then comes the 4.0. Are they going to surprise? Yes, they did. Another solid piece of gear. Sure, I head about the new fabric and its visibility (or invisibility) in the night vision. But hey, what else? Cut is almost the same – a comfortable, slightly extended jacket with comfy chest pockets and bicep pockets. Honestly, I don't really like these pockets maybe except the fleece lined hand warmer ones. Then, there are sleeves with pockets and Velcros. Nothing new. Adjustable Velcro cuffs and internal cuffs perfectly fitting to the arms and gloves (have seen that already too). Anything else? Yes, the redesigned hood which perfectly protects the head against the blowing wind as in the 3.0… Oh, and I dig the Cordura reinfor- cements on the shoulders and forearm perfectly matching the shell color. MIG 4.0 is helluva rugged, warm, air permeable and improves the thermal com- fort. It will keep you warm and dry even in drizzling rain and keeps you in the safe zone It is comfortable, does not weigh a ton or two, will not restrict your actions and I guess the new fabric is less swishy. Your last thermal resort. As for me, the 4.0 is very similar to the earlier generation. Same thermal comfort, similar cut, except the main zipper which was PITA in 3.0. The MIG 4.0 looks bet- ter, more pro I would say, I feel like the cool guy factor was amped. I always keep it in the trunk as a backup. Months ago, I was on the range for 7+ hours. It was just +2C and I forgot to take it with me. Damn, how I was missing it. I need to play NVGs to see if it really works as advertised. Maybe sometime, somewhere I will need that feature too. When I am writing or talking about Carinthia stuff I have that problem that I am always positive about it. I guess sooner or later my friends and readers won't trust me anymore. But show me other military/tactical/outdoor gear which holds up well for so long, keeps its performance parameters , does not wear or tear. Can you? MIGs seem to be indestructible (of course, I am not a soldier or pro hiker and I will use the jacket like 95% of you and this is the perfect jacket that will last). It's not cheap, but what you pay is what you get. CLOTHING
