SFU NEXT These are not the high-end Gucci pants but well-designed and well-made pants with an affordable price tag. Do not expect them to be bomb proof, uber-comfortable and being made from some fancy fabric which breathes well, pro- tects against wind, rain, bullets, COVID and 5G. The- se are "good enough". It would be hard to find better pants with a similar price tag. Let's start from the cut. It's not baggy, more on the slimmer side. Some may not like it but this the "alpine/ straight" cut you could find in all of the modern hiking pants. The design is far more complex than you could expect from the field pants. The legs are composed of different pieces of fabric. This together with flexible fabric increases the spectrum of movement. There are even the knee pads pockets for those who want to use them as combat pants. Pockets: well placed and there are eight of them – for all the stuff you may need to keep in them. There are even pockets on the rear but there should be a "credential trap", an internal flap that would secure items carried inside. I use SFU NEXT Mk2 always with the belt tucked in so I've removed the plastic buckle and webbing strap of wa- ist adjustment tabs. The belt loops are in perfect condition and there are no signs of threads coming out or something like that. The main fabric is lightweight 48% cotton, 50% poly- ester and 2% elastane rip-stop fabric. I guess it will lose color after 5-10 washes but no one will use them so long. After 2-3 washes there are already some slight discolorations on the seam lines and in the areas with increased wear and tear. Nothing I would not expect. I've been crossing the bushes in the mountains and the fabric remained intact. BTW, the fabric dries pretty quickly. For those who love tiny details there are Helikon-logo signed buttons, the angled cuts in the pocket's flaps, pull tabs for quicker access and geometric shapes of some fa- bric parts. I dig it. Can I recommend the SFU NEXT Mk2? www.fragoutmag.com
