The events that took place late in the evening, on November 2nd, 2020, in Austria, did gain the attention of the public. The fact that the act of terror we are describing here took place in a country that is not usu- ally associated with a terrorist threat might have been surprising for a regular Joe observing the world. At the same time, it needs to be said that the attack above shared some common traits with other acts - it may be thus viewed as a typical event, considering the recent history. Vienna native, born in Austria back in 2000. His parents were Albanian, they were ex-North Macedonia resi- dents. Feyzullah had two citizenships - Macedonian, and Austrian. He was known to the secret services as an Islamic fundamentalist. Back in 2018, he made an unsuccessful attempt to travel to Afghanistan. Then he went to Turkey in Septem- ber 2018, intending to reach Syria and join what remained of ISIS. The latter attempt was unsuccessful as well. Feyzullah was stopped by the Turkish Police, sent back to Austria, and sentenced to 22 months of im- prisonment. He was conditionally re- leased, receiving 3 years of parole. During his sentence, he underwent a "deradicalization" program that was aimed to inspire him to abandon the Islamic fanaticism ideology. At his release, it was assumed that the un- dertaken actions were effective. As it turned out - they were not. We also know that the perpetra- tor used the Zastava M70B2 as- sault rifle, TT pistol, machete, and S-vest mock-up - this shows in the recording, in which the perpetrator declared his loyalty towards ISIS. The firearms were procured on the black market - most plausibly, both the pistol, as well as the rifle, were sourced from the former Yugoslavia. The biography of the terrorist is nothing special, compared to other Jihadists. The myth of the threat posed by immigrants is not true. Similarly, as in the case of other events, the terrorist was an ordi- nary teenager with immigrant roots, with a normal life. At some moment, the teenager encourages fundamen- talist ideology.
