Even though Merkava Mk 2A/B did include some novelties, it should rather
be viewed as a development of the first generation Merkavas, not as
a qualitatively new vehicle design. This is evident when one takes a closer
look at the primary MBT assessment criteria: protection levels, mobility,
firepower.
