Land Component
Land Component of the Polish Navy complements the warships.
Naval Missile Unit (Morska Jednostka Rakietowa, MJR) subordi-
nated to the 3rd Flotilla exhibits the greatest combat potential
here. It is a coastal artillery element that is armed with the NSM
anti-ship missiles that can also be used, optionally, against land
targets. The agreement concerning the acquisition of equip-
ment for the Coastal Missile Unit (Nadbrzeżna Jednostka Rak-
ietowa, NDR) was concluded by and between the Polish MoD
and Kongsberg in 2008 and had a value of PLN 900 million. All
of the squadron's elements have been delivered between 2013
and 2014. In 2014, another agreement, with a value of PLN 800
million, was signed. It concerned the delivery of another squad-
ron. The agreement was finalized in 2018.
Two missile squadrons using the NSM missile form the back-
bone of the MJR element. Each of the squadrons operates six
mobile MLV launchers, six combat control CCV platforms, CV
Support Vessels
Support vessels complement all of the assets listed above. These
include:
Ä ORP Lech and ORP Piast rescue vessels - originally planned
to be decommissioned in 2020,
Ä ORP Nawigator and ORP Hydrograf reconnaissance vessels,
Ä ORP Bałtyk and Z-8 tankers, supporting the 3rd and the 8th
Flotillas respectively,
Ä Small support vessels - tugboats, training vessels, motor-
boats.
