I n this story you will find every setup we did use, with all the pros and cons of each. We will share our conclusions and recommen- dations. fles seemed to be perfect at a first glimpse but we constantly modded them. The rifles in the photos from that era are after our initial mods. "Matka's" gun has EOTech 552 holographic weapon sight which was a standard issue in the JWK. The main flaw of the HWS was its overall length – it had to be mount- ed front forward on top of the up- per receiver and it collided with the night vision. The attachment of EOTech 3x magnifiers (which were bought privately) was hindered and we had to remove the iron sights to have some space on the rails. The GripPod front grip with the bipod was long and heavy but it provided additional stability when shooting prone. As the only unit in POLSOF we were widely using the magwells. In our opinion is the very important accessory that improves reloads during running, when tired or in the low-visibility conditions. We used different ones, but the Arredondo was the most common one. The stock was HK-factory "big bulky" standard stock we quickly replaced with Magpul MOE Stock. The 2010 was a "Magpul Love" year, hence the Magpul convertible slings and our home-brewed end plates based on the original ASAP End Plate. "Łasuch" rifle is different as it has 4x32 Trijicon ACOG optics opti- mized for mid-range and long-range engagements, but "slower" in the CQB/DA use. ACOG was heavier than HWS but still lighter than HWS combined with a magnifier. That was "dope" at that time, especially when MRDS was added on top lat- er. Weapon light was a Surefire G2 (nothing better was available) on the LaRue mount (private purchase, of course). The main problem at that time was the HK416 barrel length Well, we were still lucky as our rifles came with 14.5" barrels and some of the JWK combat teams were given the 16" ones… Our team was "urban" The HK416 story begins in 2010 before deployment to Afghanistan. Our unit received a long awaited 14,5" HK416A3 in 2009 to replace old and worn out 5.56 Fabryka Broni Beryl wz. 96 assault rifles based on the AK design. New shiny ri- www.fragoutmag.com
