keep the amphibious capability requirement in force, for almost all of the new fighting vehicle designs. This, in turn, means that the ZSSW- 30 armament would remain far more lethal, in a context of a full- scale conflict with the potential adversary. The ability to carry large quantities of 30 mm rounds available for immediate use shall be viewed as a major advantage. The quantity of available ammunition is highest, among other European designs fitted with 30 mm guns. It is one of the three best storage capacities for a chain gun of this caliber. The quantity of available ABM rounds (~200) is impressive as well. Despite the horrendous unit cost, the ABM rounds availability translates into a reduction of the number of rounds that need to be fired to eliminate the targets - as opposed to the MP-T/SD projectiles. Five- or eight-fold reduction of the necessary quantity of ammunition is in the realm of marketing fairy- tales of course. This is the case, as weaponry is rarely used in line with the designer's assumptions. Shooting the gun without checking the target distance, firing bursts that are longer than needed, firing "in advance", to hit targets that have been erroneously recognized - these things do happen on the actual battlefield and they are usually caused by the huge stress exerted on the troops in combat. The expected ammunition consumption, with regards to quantities needed to destroy or neutralize the given targets, is nowhere near the reality. Nonetheless, the general estimates mention a three-times reduction of the quantity of ammunition required, depending on the tactical situation and the target type. As a result of the above, it may be assumed that three hundred 30 mm rounds stored in the ZSSW-30 turret would allow the crew to attack more targets, than five hundred rounds in BMP-2 (160 BT rounds (armor piercing- tracer), and 340 OFZ rounds (Frag- HE-incendiary), or in the Kurganets vehicle. This is amplified even further, by the fact that the 2A42 gun is not really in the top ten most accurate cannons, contrary to the Bushmaster. The secondary weapon in ZSSW-30 is typical.
