Slide operation is as smooth as Tennes- see whiskey. Sure, it is just a single recoil spring on the guide rod but the strength and resistance were chosen perfectly. Racking the slide is effortless. Slide di- rectional serrations improve the grip and there is not much resistance to overcome. Slides move to the rear smoothly, even when shooting suppressed. The trigger works perfectly. Short travel, tactile wall, fine tuned trigger pull and short reset. Nothing else required for effective double-taps. Using factory iron sight only I was able to quickly shoot bullseyes from 15-17 meters. Iron sights are crisp, clear and sometimes even too bright! The MR920L straight out of the box is ready to play with it. Nothing to change or tune. Just put some rounds to break in the trigger. I had only one problem with this fancy Shadow Systems MR920 – it comes with cheap Magpul mags. They don't match the "one-million-dollar look" of the gun. Maybe they should come with some cool base pads for better looks? I am not keen on the idea of the optics mounted directly to the slide. I know it is a common practice but it decreases the possible upgrades of the MRDS in future. Sure, the properly milled optics cut allows the stable and tight-fitting attachment of the sight, but the polymer bumpers may wear down af- ter extensive use and the recoil forces will ultimately impact the MRDS (or attach- ment screws. Adapter plates have some advantages. Other than that, I believe that decision was well-thought out as it allows to place the MRDS as low as possible and lose some weight. Shadow Systems M920 Combat pistols MSRP starts at $799.99 and the MR920 Elite is around $989.99. www.fragoutmag.com
