O light Odin Mini is a 1,250 lumens (14,400 can- delas) output weapon light sharing the same features as the 2,000 lumens Odin but in a more compact package, better for use with short barreled rifles or submachine guns. It might also be used as a handheld light. Odin Mini has the aircraft grade aluminum body (battery compart- ment, tailcap, mount and head housing the LED) and PVD coated stainless steel strike bezel. Flash- lights are available in Black and Desert Tan hard anodizing (Tan is more like gold-brown shade) and there is a limited run in Gunmetal Grey. Odin Mini is fully sealed for IPX8 weather protection. In the head there is a Boron-Sil- icate glass protecting the neu- tral-white LED diode (again, Olight did not provide the exact model and manufacturer of the diode). The reflector, total internal re- flection (TIR) lens, is made from PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) favored for its clarity, UV stabil- ity, and high transmissivity con- vex lens. The LED is electronically controlled and is powered from a proprietary 18500 2040mAh 3.6V rechargeable lithium battery which might be charged through the Ol- igh MCC3 A2 USB near-magnetic charger (included with the kit). The batteries are stable in a wide range of temperatures, have a ten years lifespan and retain capacity for a long time. The low battery level is indicated by vibrations which can be felt even when holding the gun with Odin on it. The electronic circuit that con- trols the LED automatically adjusts the light output to the temperature and status of the rechargeable bat- tery. The maximum output is 1,250 lumens for 6 minutes and then output is automatically lowered to 900 lumens (for 11 minutes), then to 700 lumens (39 minutes) and fi- nally to 300 lumens for the last 14 minutes. Odin Mini, when in handheld configuration, is activated with the pressure pad on the multi-function- al tailcap. Operation of the pres- sure pad is momentary on (200 lumens) when pressed or constant on (1,250 lumens) when pressed and held. The magnetic base of the tailcap is also used to attach the magnetic charger. Charging is con- www.fragoutmag.com
