Tinker AFB. Another airframe would be received by the Kansas
State University in Wichita. One example would also act as a
„gate guardian" in front of one of the airbases. 86-099 airframe,
originally stationed at Ellsworth, would be converted at Edwards
AFB, to become the so-called EAGIL (Edwards Aircraft Ground
Integrated Lab). The aircraft would be used as a ground test
platform, for the development of future upgrades for the B-1B
fleet. This would make it possible to eliminate from 100 to 200
‚non-flying' days for the aforesaid aircraft belonging to 419th
FLTS. The „Lancers" remaining in service are and are going to
be upgraded, to become capable of carrying out new missions,
use new weapons, and they would probably be flying until the
mid-2020s (the timeline depends largely on the progress made
in the B-21 Raider project). Recently the B-1B cockpits were
modernized (the process had begun in 2012). The aircraft
received MFDs (four for pilots, six for WSOs), and several other
communications/datalink/maintenance solutions. The above
changes enhanced the comfort and situational awareness of
