Contingent main mission is augmenting the air
policing capabilities of the Romanian Air Force,
however not only. Task Force Commander, Lt. Col.
Corey Mask explains in more detail - „We provide Air
Policing 50% of our time, while the rest is devoted to
training missions - both our planned tasks as well
as joint flights with Romanians. Overall, we tend
to fly almost everyday in order to keep everyone in
shape and get as much experience being deployed
here as possible".
Everyday operations
Canadian pilots managed to integrate and fly
alongside Romanian F-16s and MiG-21 as well as
fly Close Air Support missions where
Romanian JTACs were
working with Canadian JTACs. Moreover,
CF-188s also conduct joint operations with US Air
Forces in Europe and other military assets in the
area of Black Sea. „We all do things very similar, but
there are always some differences allowing you to
learn something from each other. It's a great expe-
rience to be able to integrate into day-to-day fighter
operations in European airspace", tells Craco - one
of the pilots.
