NaFirst I was like "Geez, it's huge!" but moments later, when I saw it on friends' Glock I was "Hey, it's cool". And that's how my story with the "Swedish box" started. I dig the Swedish gear and I had to think about it. You know, enclosed housing, dirt proof, rugged, durable and battery slot on the side. When the MRDS trend started, I kept my eyes open on the new sights. Because they were available to me, my first red dots were Trijicon and Holosun and both met my expectations. But since I was totally FNG in the red dots, I really didn't know what my expec- tations were. Then I went to a shooting class by Target Creators and they shared some wisdom with me. After the class I knew that ACRO would be the right choice. I've put in on my SIG Sauer M18 handgun which, since recently, is my primary weapon of choice. The installation was hassle free, all details are well thought out, in overall, quality stiff. No problems with drawing or reholstering. So my ACRO P-1 took some beating during shooting classes. I didn't try to damage it, just normal use. The sight is really rug- ged, and I like the fact that I don't have to care about it too much and all the tears or dings will be just a "battle scar" if anything like that will ever happen. The ACRO didn't fall off during shooting, it works, switches on and switches off. The gun felt off the holster straight in the water or into mud. Ban- ged the door-frame. The ACRO seemed to be not impressed. It is lo- oking huge and heavy but when you place it on your gun it does not look so anymore. The large window with 3.5 MOA dot is more than enough for pistol shooting. And it definitely increases the chicks- -dig-it factor of your gun making it more fancy. Enough praise! ACRO P-1 is definitely a well made and thought out product but I had one incident with it. It was a rainy cold day in the autumn. A perfect "ain't raining we ain't training" day. Pistol dril- ls for a couple hours. During "tactical" pause I activated "Scrooge mode" as I wanted to save the battery in sight and what I saw on the rear glass was fog on ¾ of the window. We checked the other ACRO from the same batch and there was no fogging at all… I could aim as the red dot was clearly visible (target not so well but who cares…). After 15-20 minutes the fog was gone and the window was clear. I am not really sure what happened. Environment? Problem with sight? Never happened again. To sum up: military grade red dot sight, comfortable and reliable. I am sure it will serve me well for a long time. It was made for that. One of the biggest pistol red dots, yes indeed, but definitely one of the smallest red dots for the long gun. Choose wisely. Lotos: www.fragoutmag.com
