DESIGN To solve the above mentioned pro- blem, Aimpoint engineers decided to put the LED emitter inside the ho- using which would protect it against elements and additionally would im- prove durability of the sights. ACRO's were taken to the torture test – check the photos for more details. ACRO's were thrown, submerged, crushed and even torched and they were still working. BTW, the ACRO is not the first "enclosed" red dot – Aimpoint first take on this idea was the short- -lived Aimpoint NANO red dot sight released in 2016 and offered only to- gether with Swiss B&T USW pistols where it was attached to the unique chassis. It was scheduled to hit the shelves in 2018 but ultimately Aimpo- int decided to wait a bit more and replace it with ACRO which was officially announ- ced in June 2018. The basic layout of both ACRO P-1 and C-1 is the same. The differences are only in the specs which we will highlight later in this story. The boxy housing of ACRO is made from lightweight aircraft grade aluminum ano- dized to satin black. It is fully sealed and recoil resistance – the company declares that it was torture tested through 20,000 .40 S&W shots. The dimensions are 47 x 30 x 30 (mm) and the weight (with battery included) is 60 grams. The 650 nm red LED eye safe emitter is protected from front and rear with two pieces of very clear glass coated with an anti-reflex layer. www.fragoutmag.com
