ue to the current tense internal
security situation in Europe,
many law enforcement agen-
cies have modernized their equip-
ment, procured new ones or even
developed new concepts. One of
these was the modernization of the
German state police and the federal
police in recent years with new ar-
mored vehicles.
In the early days of the new Ger-
man Federal Republic (West Ger-
many) in the Western Allies sector,
paramilitary Federal Border Guard
(Bundesgrenzschutz - BGS) and state
readiness police, converted and over-
hauled US M8 Greyhound wheeled
reconnaissance vehicles from World
War II era. These were used in the
