O ne of these was the first edition of Operation Furia (English: Fury) which took part in late September 2021 at the Czacz shooting range near Poznan (Western Poland). The shooting range itself is fresh too – in the past it was a paintball field but it transformed into a fully fledged range with five 50-100 meters sho- oting lanes and single 200 meters shooting lane. The longest lane is also the widest one – you can even drive a car there! In the first edition of OP Furia, 51 participants took part. There were three different shooting stages with varied le- vels of complexity. Players were divided into two groups, each starting on a separate day. The reason was com- plexity of the stages, multiple targets, additional tasks, etc. so the time required to complete and then "reset" the stage was longer (even the hosts were rushing around). Each of the players was required to have a plate car- rier with ballistic plates (or training plates with the proper weight equivalent) and head protection (helmet or bump helmet). Perfect challenge for weekend warriors. Shooting stages were completely different from ones you could see at "sport shooting" or IPSC challenges. Here is a brief description of the stages (in any order, be- cause we already forgot what was the order). STAGE #1 Player standing with gun uncharged, but with magazi- nes loaded (both handgun and rifle). Beep and you have to go prone and shoot the metal target about 170 me- ters away. Then, safety on, change the position and from kneeling stance (supported or not) you had to hit two IDPA targets with three shots. Unload the gun. Run to Humvee and jump onto the bed. Vehicle starts and after crossing the firing line, the rangemaster gives you a signal to shoot at eight IDPA targets (30-40 meters distance), three shots each. From the moving vehicle! The car suddenly stops, disembark. Unload the rifle, draw a handgun and shoot four IDPA targets with three rounds each. Misses are pe- nalties, wrong zones are penalties too. STAGE #2 Players is sleeping on the bunk, with gloves on and with the warbelt. The rest of the kit and guns are on the table. Beep! Now you have to run 60 meters and bring the heavy sack back to your starting position. Now, jock up and start the room clearing! First with long gun and the other one with handgun. What makes the stage harder is the color of targets – red (shoot 3 times), green (twice), yellow (one shot) and white (no shoot). You don't like running? Penal- ty points! 78 www.fragoutmag.com
