the special training with avalanche rescue dogs and their guides
- during that training the dogs were lowered onto the landing site
with the use of a winch. An actual rescue operation involving
a military W-3 helicopter also took place, in Slovakia, in the Veľká
Fatra area. Unfortunately - two fatalities were found.
All parties involved in the cooperation were referring to it as
a model scheme. Hence a declaration: if a necessity emerges to
support the TOPR team, both the Polish Police, as well as the Polish
Armed Forces would be eager to take on the challenge. It was not
long until a necessity as such emerged. In late January 2022, the
Cracow Police rotary-wing asset yet again appeared in the Tatra
mountains, with mixed Cracow-Warsaw crews, as the TOPR's Sokół
suffered from a malfunction.
