I n theory, the difference seems to be simple: military GROT is a se- lect-fire and has a bayonet lug, the sporting one is semi-automatic only and you cannot fix a bayonet on it. This could be the end of the story but there are some slight differences between these two (or even three va- riants) we find valuable to share with you. In this story we are going to show you the differences between military select-fire GROT C16 FB-A2 (setting aside the differences between A0, A1 and A2 which were discussed in detail in the previous issue of the ma- gazine) and the commercial aka spor- ting semi-auto GOT S16 FB-M1 from both first and current production run. I need to highlight that all rifles were slightly modified (it does not have any effect on the subject) and I have to mention that both my and military rifles have the 14.5" barrels. The dif- ferences between standard 16" bar- rels will be explained separately on barrels taken out of the guns. BARRELS So let's start at the beginning, that is, with the barrels. All barrels are 16" and 406 mm in overall length inclu- ding the standard muzzle device. The C16 version has a shorter flash hider which is permanently pinned to the barrel with two pins. It is similar with A2-type birdcage flash hider so the suppressors with A2-compatible QD attachments might be installed. We verified this with B&T RBS QD sup- pressor. In S16 barrels, the muzzle end is 1/2x28 threaded and muzzle devices are screwed onto the thread and secured with a counter-nut. The mil version has a notch on the bottom to fix the bayonet. Moving further towards the chamber, you will notice that the military bar- rel has a ring with a lug for bayonet attachment, which is not present in the civilian version. The commercial barrel is fluted on the entire length for improved rigidity. One detail, which is GROT A1 pistol grip A1 QD socket A1 front grip A1 bayonet assembly A1 www.fragoutmag.com
