RABBIT Clarus is my third kit from Silynx. First was C4OPS, and then a commercial Clarus PRO. Clarus is by far the most modern and most miniaturized in relation to the offered capabilities of the set, because in addition to active noise cancellation it gives the possibility to connect two external devices. It looks bomb-proof as it is made of polymer with metal parts. Everything is sealed (battery socket, buttons, leads, connectors), so there is no fear of water or dust getting inside. The cables are well routed out - the connection points are over molded, which prevents the cables from breaking. The cables themselves - very sturdy, thick and giving the possibility of convenient attachment with several brackets. And definitely too long, at least for me. Too bad there is no option to connect cables of different lengths, especially the one leading to the headset. A big plus for the attachment points of attaching this too-long cable - it can be fixed securely, ensuring that it can still "work", although this must be done at the stage of attaching it to the gear - after that it can be difficult. Attachment clip is rock solid. Don't be afraid that something will come loose and the Clarus will fall off. The battery compartment is closed with a large metal lid secured to the body which can easily be unscrewed even with a hand in a thick glove to replace the battery (standard AAA). In general, use with gloves is not a problem - the buttons have a tactile feel, with a distinct click and are ergonomically arranged, so there is no problem pressing PTT or changing the volume. Foam ear tips come in several sizes, I use Medium (like everyone else) - here you need to remember to replace them, because it's a component that wears out and gets dirty, and if it gets dirty, it can cause ear inflammation. Sound quality: great, both ambient sounds and the communication system, just loud & clear. Disadvantage - in the wind, the external microphones can growl, because they have no foam covers. In the Clarus PRO there were spot foams on the microphone openings, and that even worked, but quickly fell off, so in Clarus you have to accept it. www.fragoutmag.com
