When it comes to camouflage selection, we've decided to go with the MAPA, as Maskpol decided to provide us with those uniforms, and we, as the volunteers who do not earn money, but spend their own, or use the money they get from the donors, we eagerly accepted the gifts given us free of charge, and that equipment has proven its worth on site. Selecting a proper camouflage is important, as the Russians use Western camouflage patterns as well. MAPA pattern has not been used by them so far, so when at the frontline, our uniforms are not associated with the Russian units. Friendly fire is quite common. MAPA is good in the sense that it does not resemble any other camo pattern worn by the Russians. Your team will be a base for books, or even combat medic hand- books. These books will include information on the professionalism and effectiveness of your actions. But will there be any space avail- able to cover the psychology, and character traits that make a good combat medic? Or maybe the uni- formed services are already learn- ing from your experiences? We are trying to share our experi- ence, as much as possible. I, as a re- serve soldier, and a former Territori- al Defence Forces officer, remain in touch with that branch, and I am try- ing to share most of that experience there. We also make visits to differ- ent units, from the 6th Brigade to the 25th Brigade, trying to share our expertise from the ground up. Deci- sionmakers from different services are starting to ask us for the know- how, gradually. But a certain kind of distance is still present in the minds of the commanders, in the mentali- ty: „some medics, from some chari- ty organization", not an established organ, not service, we do not know who that is, who he works with – we tend to notice a certain lack of trust. But we are making the first move in that dialogue, showing that working there is one thing, while the knowl- edge and experiences we bring back, are another matter. And this may be a factor in saving the lives of the Polish soldiers, if a situation emerges in which our forces are forced to engage in combat, pro- tecting our homeland from Russian imperialism. And that imperialism is trying to broaden its horizons. We are open to working with Polish uni- formed services. Thanks for the conversation, hang in there! 80 www.fragoutmag.com
