No specific, concrete information regarding the Borsuk program is avail- able now. To meet the demand expressed by the mechanized battalions of the Polish Army, manufacturing and delivery of ca. 1,000 examples of the IFV will be needed. The remainder of the vehicles will be delivered in specialist configurations - as Żuk reconnaissance IFVs, Oset C2 vehicles, Gekon ARVs, Ares CRBN reconnaissance vehicles, and Gotem MEDEVAC platforms. Furthermore, the experience and know-how obtained during the Borsuk project would be useful in other undertakings, including the development of Heavy IFV (Ciężki Bojowy Wóz Piechoty - CBWP), expect- ed to be created with the use of domestic defense industry potential, based on the agreement signed by and between the Armament Agency, and the industry, on August 14th, 2023. According to the information released by the Armament Agency in Febru- ary 2023, the delivery of the first, series-manufactured Borsuk vehicles is expected to happen between 2024 and 2025. Interestingly, no perfor- mance contracts were signed by mid-August (the declarations suggest that these may be concluded by the end of this year). Initially, 50 ex- amples of the Borsuk IFV are to be manufactured per year. Ultimately, 100 per year is the expected manufacturing output. This is to be made possible thanks to the provision of extra state capital to HSW S.A. Fur- thermore, accelerated manufacturing will also be needed at other entities engaged in this program, and this also applies to the ZSSW-30 deliveries. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH THE BORSUK IFV NBPWP (Nowy Bojowy Pływający Wóz Piechoty, translated into New Amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle) Borsuk is based on the UMPG universal modular tracked platform. ZSSW-30 RWCS is a very important component of the said vehicle. Bushmaster Mk 44S is the primary armament of the ZSSW-30. It offers automatic, and semi-automatic operation modes, and can fire five different types of ammunition, including ABM/programmable projectiles. Co-axial, modified ZMT 7.62 mm UKM-2000C machine gun is the secondary weapon for the turret. Additionally, the turret has also been coupled with a dual Spike-LR ATGM launcher, license-manufactured at Mesko S.A. Other types of missiles may also be used here. The vehicle, using the onboard weapons, can neutralize enemy infantry, armor, airborne threats, or other assets used by the adversary, in any weather conditions, at night, and during the day. The Polish IFV's primary gun's range is defined as 3 kilometers, which is three times better than the primary armament of the legacy BWP-1 platform. The ZSSW-30 turret system developed by the HSW S.A. and WB Elec- tronics S.A. will be delivered by a consortium formed by the following businesses: Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. [Polish Armament Group], Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. (leader), WB Electronics S.A. and Rosomak S.A. Contract regarding the first series-manufactured 70 units was concluded 14 www.fragoutmag.com
