the military weapon were the length of the barrel and the huge deer logo on either side of the magazine well. FN 15 FN 15 Military Collector M4 is a 5.56 NATO/.223 REM semi-automatic rifle based on MIL-SPEC M4A1. It has a 14.7" long barrel (16" with permanently attached A2-type mu- zzle device according to US rules, so not in specs) SOCOM profile barrel. It is 4140 CMV steel, chrome lined, button-broached barrel with 1:7" twist rate. The FN 15 M4 is 775 mm long with stock collapsed and 869 mm with stock extended. Weight is approx. 2.99 kg. The 6-position stock is standard MIL-SPEC one with a sling mount. Carbine-length gas system and barrel are shrouded in Knight's Armament Company M4 RAS Rail Assembly System with four MIL- -STD-1913 accessory rails on 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. RAS comes with a kit of rail covers and vertical front grip. The M4 front sight base features bayonet attachment for fixing M9, OKC3S or even M7 bayonet. There is a side sling mount attached to the barrel – this was a modification that allowed the slung the 40 mm M203 grenade launcher under the barrel. Forged 7075-T6 aircraft grade alu- minium upper and lower receivers are hard anodized (Type III) to Black. Of course, the lower receiver has thick side walls near the safety switch, so the select-fire trigger gro- up can't be installed. FN decided to leave SAFE-SEMI-AUTO markings on the lower receiver, but the am- bidextrous safety switch works only in single-fire mode. Charging handle is a simple, MIL-SPEC one. Bolt is made from MIL-SPEC Car- penter 158 steel and it is chrome li- ned (same as gas key). Both parts of the bolt are nitride treated. Bolt car- rier is the same as the military one, with an extended rear part. FN 15 features the standard A2 pistol grip and military trigger gu- ard which can be opened when shooting with thick winter gloves. Single stage trigger has approx. 3 kg pull, MIL-SPEC but smooth and repeatable. The rifle comes with Matech BUIS rear sight, single 30 round alum- inum body magazine, sling and some papers in kit. PIMPIN' THE M4 So you decided to become a cloner with an expensive rifle? So your fre- shly bought gun requires some pim- pin' now. Bare minimum: sights. CompM4/ CompM4s for modern (2009 and up) rifles and CompM2/M68 Clo- se Combat Optic (M68 designa- tion is used for all Comps, BTW!) for earlier ones (around 2000's). 53 www.fragoutmag.com FIREARMS
