A FEW DAYS AGO, MY FRIEND TOMASZ, WHO LIVES IN SWEDEN, SENT ME A LINK TO A SURVIVAL TRAINING COURSE ORGANIZED BY THE GUYS FROM PARTYZANCI LUBELSZCZYZNY (GUERILLAS OF LUBELSZCZYZNA), WHICH WAS TAKING PLACE IN SWEDEN. YES, UP THERE ON THE MAP. THE PLACE WHERE IT'S ALWAYS COLD, AND SUMMER LASTS ONLY TWO DAYS. A fter reading about the plans for this training, a thought sprouted in my mind: I'm going! And at the same time, I'll visit my friend. In my mind's eye, I could already see the adven- ture that awaited me, the adventure for true men. We would venture into the impenetrable Swedish forests, battle mosquitoes, ticks, moose, and the cold. We would drink water from the lake and learn to light a fire in a dozen different ways. I'm going! That day, I made my decision. I contacted Paweł Szlendak, also known as Szlendi. We agreed that I would join a group of Poles living in Scandinavia and participate in the training with them for a few days. F rom that moment on, I started gathering my gear and clothing that could help me survive this time. Right at the start of this adventure, I re- alized I had significant gaps in my knowledge. My several-year-old cargo pants and a sleeping bag I had used at the "Woodstock" festival didn't quite match the photos Tomasz had sent me, where there was always ankle-deep snow, or even deeper. I decided to reach out to a few stores selling outdoor gear and offered a barter deal: I needed specific clothing in exchange for testing, photo- graphing, and filming these items in an interesting environment.
