They've included four zip ties in the kit to secure it neatly through the mounting slots. Mounting the Odin to your handgu- ard is non-standard. As I mentioned earlier, the light's body features an integrated rail that's designed to work perfectly with a dedicated Odin base mount. This is the offset mount that Olight has been using for their weapon lights for a while now which works great with 'stan- dard' handguards. If your hand- guard has more unique shapes or curves, you might run into some compatibility issues (for example, it doesn't play nicely with the Po- lish MSBS GROT due to its unusu- al curvature and the asymmetry between the top and bottom of its handguard, making mount impossi- ble to attach). However, this isn't just the old mo- unt dusted off – it's been upgra- ded. Firstly, you no longer have to slide the light's rail into the mount socket from the front. Instead, you press it in from the top, ensuring the screw holes in the light's base align perfectly with the retaining screws in the mount. The light is now held securely by a full clam- ping side, rather than just a small tab, and the locking mechanism is now a straightforward screw (much like many other manufactu- rers' mounts), doing away with the fiddly twisting and pressing of the past. You can tighten the screw by hand, with the base of a cartridge, a coin, or the included Allen key. Here's a neat little fact: the Odin S is a touch lighter than its older si- bling, tipping the scales at 193 g vs. 216 g. The Odin arrives in a cardboard box with a magnetic closure lid. In- side, all the components of the kit are neatly arranged in custom-cut compartments, along with a user manual Odin S comes in Black or Coyote Brown. When it comes to the overall feel and build quality, the Odin is very reminiscent of the previous version – which is a good thing! But it's fantastic that Olight has taken the feedback and implemented chan- ges that significantly enhance its practicality. The switch to a more common 18650 with the option of running CR 123As is a particu- larly welcome improvement. While there's a slight dip in the raw per- formance numbers, the light still delivers a very usable beam pattern with a defined hotspot and a gene- rous spill to illuminate your surro- undings. While I might still hesitate to label the Odin as a purely "pro" light, it's absolutely spot-on for en- thusiast use. The other updates are great too – the redesigned magnetic connector attachment is definitely the highli- ght, but the revamped mounting system also makes a lot of sense. ACCESSORIES
