www.fragoutmag.com secondarily on pistols. The reason for that was that the pistols in servi- ce at that time did not fully meet standards, the program authors ri- ghtly placed more emphasis on the rifle as the primary weapon of every soldier. During this course, I already saw how crucial a device on my pi- stol would be in certain situations, both during combat and interven- tion techniques, a device I could use to strike without the risk of weapon jamming. Most military pistols at that time did not have a threaded barrel on which a specialized striking/ inca- pacitating device could be moun- ted. If suppressor-ready barrels and such multi-functional devices like the GUNFIGHTER had existed back then, techniques for using a pistol in close quarters in specific situations would certainly have been included in the program. I became even more convinced of this during Krav Maga advanced training courses organi- zed at GROM, where we hosted in- structors from Poland and abroad, and during workshops on close-qu- arters pistol techniques organized for us by instructors from the SOP (State Protection Service). These were moments when I increasin- gly saw the need for such a device. Shooting practically point-blank at various training aids in the form of dummies, or during "force on force" training with UTM marking rounds, where there is a very high probability of a pistol malfunction, the GUNFI- GHTER would perfectly serve as a so-called risk mitigation in the con- text of potential pistol malfunctions during H2H combat. My thoughts solidified when I be- came an Explosive Ordnance Dispo- sal specialist (Breacher) after the GROM breachers course. At that time, we worked a lot on means of transport, maintaining our ability to conduct HRO on airplanes, sub- ways, trains, cars, etc. During the- se types of tasks, pistols are often used, including to smash windows
