STAGE 5: Wait They Got a Tank? A break from shooting: a four-lap obstacle course with a 10 kg ruck. After a full day, my legs were starting to give out, but I managed to sprint the 4 x100 meters, twice jumping over a one meter wall on each pass. SUNDAY: SUNDAY: THE FINAL ASSAULT THE FINAL ASSAULT STAGE 6: Ahoj. The 40 kg barbells were waiting. Four sets, each a mix of carrying the barbell a set distance on one axis and shooting pistol and rifle from a tank trap on the other. Effectively dropping the barbell on my thigh certainly didn't help, and I finished the stage on the third set. STAGE 7: Floater – The Disco. Two minutes of burpees to failure with a jump over a box. Pure physical exertion, no shooting. The record holders hit almost 40 reps; my 23 were enough. Now to the next stage. STAGE 8: Świnica. Here, we had another mix of shooting and strength. A sled and 30 kg bags awaited us. Two sled drags with the bag, then throw the bag on your back and sprint over the berm separating the axes to the firing line— shoot both weapons, and return with the bag over the berm to the sled. Repeat three times. I finished within the time limit. Good to go. STAGE 1: Wingest Husars. Our final stage of the match. A 300 meter lane, a "blind stage"— we only knew there was shooting involved. We started with a pistol, engaging targets placed in and around car wrecks. Then, a surprise pop- ped up. The Kobe crew had brought in training robots from a military base for dynamic target practice. We silenced the surprise—yelling at us in a strangely familiar language—with the pistol, then switched to the rifle. With the rema- ining time out of the regulation 120 seconds, we attempted to hit the four remaining moving robots three times each at 250 meters. END EX! END EX! We made it, we survived! www.fragoutmag.com
