IMALENT SUMMARY Imalent stands as a market leader, producing high-quality lights and set- ting standards for professional and enthusiast users of these technolo- gically advanced "photon throwers." Both EDC models align perfectly with Imalent's philosophy: uncompromi- sing design, thoughtful concept, and stellar execution using the best com- ponents. Pros: • Perfect build quality and use of top-tier CREE LEDs. • Flawless electronics, excellent stabilization, and zero visible PWM. • Built-in rechargeable batteries eliminate the need for an external charger. • OLED display provides smart po- wer management visibility (rema- ining power). • Can be used in "candle" mode (tail standing). LD70 Mini EDC Verdict: The LD70 is highly recommended for anyone seeking a premium pocket light. It's small, yet comfortable in the hand, with easy thumb access to the tail switch. It will meet expectations and its elegant look and attractive display make it a great gadget. The main drawback is the output discrepancy: it doesn't quite hit the advertised 4,000 lm. This is a psy- chological hurdle, not a practical one—the difference is invisible to the naked eye. The other issue is the power system. The battery is non- -replaceable, limiting extended use when a spare battery might be ne- eded. Also, the proprietary magnetic charging cable must be strictly gu- arded; lose it, and you cannot char- ge the light. However, for an EDC light, these are minor concerns; the light is designed for daily convenien- ce, not all-night SAR missions. BL70 Verdict: The BL70 is a true pocket photon-thrower with an ex- ceptionally wide flood beam and an elegant, distinctive faux-leather finish. It's functional, beautiful, and versatile. It is ideal for uniform per- sonnel, everyday users, or corporate managers—a status symbol alon- gside a watch or pen. The rear switch is too sensitive for true tactical use (where accidental light discharge is dangerous). While the electronic lockout prevents poc- ket activation, it defeats the purpose of fast-access tactical lighting. The BL70 can serve as a primary light for personnel not involved in direct ac- tion—like community police officers or investigators—who don't need a tactical light with a strike bezel and strobe ready on their belt. The lack of a clip or belt pouch confirms it isn't intended for immediate deploy- ment. The red light is excellent for signaling or deterring insects during night movement. www.fragoutmag.com www.fragoutmag.com
