Let's don't forget about the GROT modularity… paradox. The military demanded a modular rifle but uti- lizes that modularity at a "-17 on a scale of 1 to 10." The modular de- sign adds weight and complexity, which is only justifiable if soldiers actually get the conversion kits or modular parts. They don't. Howe- ver, the modular architecture does make factory upgrades easier to implement. Assessment The MSBS/GROT A3 upgrades are positive, especially the front- -accessible gas system. I also re- commend Fabryka Broni include a torque wrench set to 23-24 Nm in every crate. One unit reported that properly torquing the barrels elimi- nated all loosening issues. However, sticking to the 16" barrel is a mistake, especially since the army plans to issue suppressors for GROT rifles. A 16" barrel with a can is a musket or a spear. It ruins the balance and maneuverability. In a Ukraine-style conflict, that length is a liability. MPS Pistol Evolution Figurski also detailed the road- map for the Modular Pistol System (MPS, check out the story of MPS designing process in separate ar- ticle). The MPS Army variant was unve- iled. It features a new polymer grip www.fragoutmag.com
