I malent initially focused on high-o- utput searchlights for search and rescue (SAR), critical infrastructu- re security, border patrol, etc. They later expanded into headlamps, EDC lights, and tactical models. Each product maintains excellent quality, premium components, and a unique, often unconventional design philosophy. The two EDC fla- shlights reviewed here—one the manufacturer even classifies as tactical—perfectly exemplify this approach. IMALENT LD70 The LD70 is a classic EDC represen- tative: universal, small, comfortable, and elegant. The flashlight body is aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish. The nicely designed housing featu- res a small OLED display hidden behi- nd a frosted polycarbonate lens. The display, invisible when off, shows the current mode, cell voltage, charge sta- tus, and electronic lockout function. The light is small, but manageable. While 18350-powered lights can be nearly half this size (like the Sofirn SC21), smaller designs often make operating a tail switch difficult, espe- cially with a reverse grip. The LD70's steel tail switch is tactile, but highly sensitive, making accidental activa- tion easy. Thankfully, the driver includes an electronic lockout, activated by a fo- ur-click sequence. When active, a pa- dlock symbol appears on the display before fading. It reappears instantly if you attempt to activate the light, reminding you of the lock. The charging port is located next to the switch, opposite the display. It uses magnetic contacts—a cle- an and convenient solution, but the proprietary cable is a drawback (more on that later). The light lacks a clip or holster, suggesting it is intended for loose pocket, backpack, or pack carry. The LD70 measures 81 mm x 25 mm and weighs 87g. The body is sealed to IPX-8 standards, meaning it can handle submersion to 2 meters and is drop-resistant up to 1.5 meters. Power: The LD70 uses a popular, but non-replaceable, soldered-in 18350 cell. The declared capacity is 1100 mAh, but testing showed an even better capacity of 1208 mAh—a fan- tastic result. Full charging takes only 1 hour and 45 minutes, despite a low 1A charging current. This indicates ACCESSORIES
