zdjcia archiwalne EARLY FABRICS AND COLORS Early UTPs were sewn from Cotton Canvas — athick, tightly woven cotton that was rugged and had aworkwear feel. The rst color was khaki, fol- lowed by black and coyote. As popularity grew the palette expanded gradually. MATERIAL EVOLUTION — RIPSTOP AND POLYCOTTON CANVAS Later UTP iterations introduced Polycotton Ripstop (PR): alighter fabric better for warmer conditions, faster drying and more comfortable daily wear. At the same time Cotton Canvas evolved into Polycotton Canvas —acotton-polyester blend that's tougher, quicker to dry and holds color longer. UTP AS THE BASE FOR A FAMILY OF TROUSER MODELS UTP became the springboard for many models and product lines. OTP – Outdoor Tactical Pants An outdoor-focused evolution of UTP: Ver- sastretch fabric, improved wind protection, quick drying and even greater freedom of movement. There are Versastretch Light variants as well, inlong and summer lengths. HOP & BUSHCRAFT Models for bushcraft use pair Duracanvas (durability) with Versastretch (ex), separating zones of durability and comfort, built for long-term elduse. FURTHER EVOLUTIONS — UTF AND NYCO There are also more uniform-oriented models: UTE, derived from NCO- style cuts, built on stiffer fabrics with Versastretch inserts to improve t and comfort without losing the "service" feel. SHORTS AND SUMMER VARIANTS The UTP/OTP family grew to include shorts in 11", 8" and 6.5" lengths, Ripstop versions, Versastretch and Versastretch Lite variants, and more outdoor-oriented cuts. WOMEN'S LINE AND JEANS UTP inspired UTL — women's trousers adapted to the female silhouette, aUTS skirt, women's OTP in long and short versions. There are also UTP/UTL Jeans — denim takes on the concept for men and women. SUMMING UP... UTP were the beginning of everything. The project broke with the BDU aesthetic, brought modern cuts and ergonomics, blended tactical func- tion with discretion, and became the foundation for an entire Helikon-Tex family of trousers. Fifteen years on, the UTP design remains not just aproduct but an icon and abenchmark for urban tactical pants. 55 www.fragoutmag.com EQUIPMENT
