L
et's start with the pistol as a stan-
dalone entry in Łucznik's lineup.
The new gun is called the MPS
— Modułowy Pistolet Samopowtarzalny
(Modular Pistol, Semi-automatic).
The MPS is a semi-automatic, 9×19mm
Parabellum pistol operating on the short
recoil principle. It uses a semi-DAO stri-
ker/trigger mechanism — the striker is
pre-tensioned and brought to full tension
by taking up the trigger, i.e., the trigger
pull both nishes the cocking action and
releases the striker. The pistol is fully
ambidextrous: it has a bilateral slide-stop
lever and the magazine-release button
can be relocated to the right side of the
frame. The takedown lever is single-sided
but, smartly, Łucznik tted a dummy lever
on the opposite side purely to provide an
identical grip and hand placement for left-
and right-hand shooters — props to the
factory for that attention to detail.
There are no external safeties on
the MPS. Instead it relies on automatic
safeties: a ring-pin block released only
at the very end of the trigger's travel, an
additional small tab in the trigger that
prevents an accidental trigger pull, and
a disconnector/interrupter that prevents
a shot if the slide is not fully locked.
The grip is polymer and features an en-
larged trigger guard and a shape optimized
for two-hand shooting and comfortable
use with tactical gloves. Its contours in-
tentionally echo the widely praised MSBS
